What hail and wind damage actually looks like
Bruising you can feel, not see
A hail strike knocks granules loose and dents the mat underneath. From the ground it looks like nothing.
Soft metal dings
Gutters, downspouts, vents and flashing dent before shingles do, they are the tell we check first.
Creased shingles
Wind folds a shingle back and creases it. It lies back down looking fine and fails a season later.
Torn or missing tabs
Straight-line wind strips the exposed edge, usually along one slope facing the storm.
Impact marks on siding and screens
Hail rarely hits only the roof. Siding, window wraps and screens corroborate the date of loss.
Interior staining
Ceiling rings and attic moisture after a storm mean water is already getting past the roof.
